Though Magic faced much criticism in coming forward to the world revealing that he had contracted the HIV virus from unprotected sex, it made Magic even more successful in the business world. At first Magic was somewhat embarrassed when releasing the big news and he faced much critcism from the public, players in the NBA and even his own team mates, but he stayed strong through the rumors. Johnson endorsed products and charged big fees for making public appearances/speeches. At first he was timid about talking about the subject but Magic grew to embrace HIV and discussed the subject publicly as a very serious matter. Johnson invested money in many companies and even created his own, he founded Magic Johnson enterprises in 1987, hosted a late night talk show the "Magic hour", owned several AMC movie theaters, and over 100 Starbucks locations. His most essential investment would have to be the Magic Johnson foundation which focuses on developing programs to aid community-based organizations that focus on educational, health and social needs of urban locations. At first Magic Johnson wasn't proud of what he had become, but he really turned his life around and made the world a better place, and made millions in the process as a truly successful business man.
