Magic faced hardship and adversity when he was told that he was HIV positive. Magic was in his prime and not ready to peak yet when he got the news that should have ended his career. Magic saw an opportunity to help people like himself who contracted the virus but not through homosexual interaction. He wanted to promote the importance of safe sex and he invested millions of dollars in funding AIDS/HIV research to help those who had previously thought they were doomed to this unfamiliar disease. Magic was only hoping to help others in his situation and other complicated situations, but in the long run the money he invested into his theaters, gyms, and several Starbucks around low income areas paid off big time.
Ayal: I think investing into all those companies was one of Magic's best ideas. Lots of professional sports players spend all their money because they don't have any other source of income but Magic went out and made more money
